A little off subject, and I'm sorry, but wow... it censors h.e.l.l. but it lets me say things that are worse than that.

Someone requested the German General's Speech that was translated by Leibgott (?):
Men its been a long war its been a tough war
You've fought bravely, proudly for your country
You are a special group
You found in one another a bond
That exists only in combat
Your brothers have shared fox holes
With each other in dire moments
Have seen death and suffering
I am proud to have shared with each and everyone of you
You deserve long and happy lives in peace.

And in German
Kriegsein gewesen ein haltbares waryou've kämpfte tapfer stolz
für Ihr countryyou sind ein spezielles groupyou, das in einem anders
gefunden wird, das ein bondthat nur in den combatyour Brüdern haben
geteilt Fuchs holeswith in entsetzliches momentshave gesehenem Tod
besteht und das sufferingi morgens, das stolz ist, mit jedem und jeder
von youyou geteilt zu haben, verdienen die langen und glücklichen
Leben im Frieden.

Topic: Hitler's Moustache

Here's the "Hitler's Moustache" quote that was requested:

"Well, I'll tell ya, I wouldn't want to be a replacement officer coming in here. Getting thrown in with a group of guys who've known each other for what? 2 years? Who've been in combat since Normandy. You're supposed to just show up and lead them? How does a guy do that? How could anyone really hope to gain the respect of the toughest, most professional, most dedicated sons of b*tches, in the entire ETO. Huh? If you ask me, a guy would have to march off to Berlin and come back with Hitler's moustache or something." - Lipton

What am I suppose to tell these parents?
Your going to say what you always say, that there son died a hero.
You don't really still believe that do you, not after all we've seen. I mean how do I tell these parents, there son didn't even make it out of the GD plane.

An article.

At flight training this summer, we had a guy who looked exactly Lewis Nixon. He even sounded like him. We all got him saying "It's a can of peaches, Sir."

Any ever see a photo of the REAL Captain Lewis Nixon. There is a picture of him in the BOB paperback. Ron Livingston (the who played Nixon) looks just like him I was surprised who physically similar they are.

My forvorite quote both in the Book and the movie was at the very end:

Grandson: Grandad are you a hero?
Grandfather: I said 'no'...but I served in a company of heros.
