Kenny, Commander of the 5th Air Force, recognized that the B-32 wasn't in favor so he requested that all of them be sent to him so he could bomb the Dutch East Indies oil fields from Darwin. A 10,000 ft runway was built but it never happened. Probably would have been better if the B-29s sent to China, where half were used to fly fuel & bombs over "The Hump" to the other half, had been sent to Darwin to cut off oil production.
