An Australian Army Blackhawk crashed into the pacific off the coast of Fiji whilst attempting to land on the flight deck of HMAS Kanimbla at last light on 29NOV06. Onboard were the 4 crew, and 6 SAS soldiers. The ships and troops are on standby to quell the possible coup in Fiji. Casualties are as follows.
1 Dead - The pilot (Captain Mark Bingley) died after being rescued from the water and treated onbaord HMAS Kanimbla
7 Injured - 7 Minor injuries to both aircrew and SAS soldiers
1 Missing, presumed dead - SAS Corporal went down with the helicopter, and no signs have been found of him yet. The helicopter has sunk in 2000m of water. Searching continues.
