It's pretty astounding that the regime keeps blatantly lying about their actions. Do they think the world is really that stupid?
In my opinion the assad clan is just buying time. Coming off the heels of an intervention in libya, I don't think the international community has the stomach for another conflict, which would be worse for sure.
The million dollar question: if the regime really does feel threatened, will they do something drastic and crazy, like start a conflit with a neighbor?
