Pending autopsy confirmation, he could be the fourth one from Houston battalion since '01

A 27-year-old Army recruiter who worked with the Houston Recruiting Battalion died in an apparent suicide Saturday in Palestine, police said.
If autopsy results confirm that Staff Sgt. Larry G. Flores took his own life, his death will mark the fourth suicide of a soldier at the Houston battalion since 2001, according to Army records.
Sgt. Larry Boyer of the Palestine Police Department confirmed that Flores' death Saturday morning appears to be a suicide, but he declined to comment further because the investigation continues.
Flores was a station commander in Nacogdoches, said Douglas Smith, spokesman for U.S. Army Recruiting Command. The staff sergeant enlisted in the Army in June 2000 and joined the Houston Recruiting Battalion in May 2004, Smith said. No other information about his service record or the circumstances of his death was available Monday, he said.
Flores' death comes a year after another Houston-based Army recruiter, 25-year-old Nils Aron Andersson, shot himself to death in a downtown Houston parking garage.
Andersson suffered from depression after returning from two tours of duty in Iraq, where he earned a Bronze Star with valor for saving the lives of two other soldiers during a firefight. After joining the Houston Recruiting Battalion in 2005, Andersson became increasingly stressed by his job, friends and family said.
