Topic: Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic

Brief history for those unfamiliar. In 1991, after fall of USSR, Romanian Moldova tried to repress its Russian-speaking minorities in the Dniestr river region. The Russians, Ukrainians, Cossacks, Jews, Roma, and others who populate what is now Pridnestrovie rose up against the Romanians. In 1992, after a year of fierce fighting, Russia's 14th Army entered Pridnestrovie to stop further bloodshed. The region, home to 600,000 people, has been de-facto independent ever since.

It is very militaristic and the government of President Igor Smirnov constantly engages in anti-Romanian propaganda. Most of his army's weapons came from the 14th Army's warehouses which Russia, so conveniently, 'forgot', when most of our forces left the region. Moldovan-Romanian is, on paper, one of the three official languages of PMR (along with Russian and Ukrainian), but last Romanian-language school was close years ago, as was last newspaper printed in that language.

There was? Good.

I am not sure what is Putin doing... One moment he tries to be friend with Israel, next, he is with Arabs. Iran too, though we won't be selling them the S300s, that is already decided.

BOTH Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov AND Cossack Ataman Vladimir Vodolacky said that Russia should be a Tsardom again, and that Putin should be Tsar

That is something.

I heard they are going to finally bury him soon (Lenin). Wonder what they'll do with the Mausoleum... All those millions pumped into it all those years... How many schools, kindergardens, factories, officers housing, homes for elderly could have been built with all that money? What a waste.

Cossacks lol

Thousands of them moved there from Russia and East Ukraine over the years to settle and 'defend Slavic land'. Not officially part of PMR army, but Smirnov can call on them when he needs them.

Yeah... So, these guys are pretty rag tag. Оld Soviet equipment, little discipline. But, it gives them an advantage too, over the Romanians: unpredictability. Plus, they know gurrela warfare. Russian specnaz guys who fought in Chechnya go to Pridnestrovie to train their forces.
