I don't agree, man. What would your country just be today hadn't the US liberated you guys from Nazism? Aren't you happy to live in a free country? That's possible entirely since those young men 60 yrs ago sacrificed their lives on the coast of France.

First i didnt know why but then the time gave me some reasons for what i not like americans. Most important is for me that bush is elected again. who else the other one was too clever (its quote that was said on tv).

A few of you think we should learn something from americans. no i dont think so. the american "culture"(which isnt even older then a few over 200 years) have lets say "polluted" no better "conterminated" or cultur (there are many and a few of them are much older than 2000 years) too much.
My opinion is a bit drastic, but what ive read here (ive not read all yet) is wrong for a part. i can tell about my friends and family. they all think about americans like me and i cant imagen that it is different anywhere else in europe or at least in eastern germany. I just shake my head when i hear that americans say that they think germans like the usa. that is wrong

for short: For me it would better the usa would lie on the moon, where they are on their own or something like that
Good god!!! If you all have such a problem with our culture, as you say, contaminating your oh so sacred ones then why do you not just stop indulging in it. I personally believe that europeans are good people, but just like any people you have some people who will just say anything to get attention.

Ok what i think may be harsh, but i am not name calling only repeating what i have seen and had said to me by americans...............

I think americans are great, polite, thoughtful and a laugh and i have met many american military personnel through my deployments in the navy. But the downfall i have is that americans tend to think they are
"better and the best and most powerful country in the world"

To this effect any time me or my friends have had a fall out with an american it goes back to the same old think.............

"you'd be speaking german if it wasn't for us"

Now this is what gets sick and tired.

I am thankful that america helped out and i respect my american friends, yet it seems to me america look down on europe and the UK and think they are better than every one else, but in reality they ain't, there are other countries out there.............other countries with more history and past....................

I suppose america is doing what britian did 100's of years ago, trying to make a status for themselves...............I ain't knocking americans themselves just the government and the way it goes about things...............

I would say that the European line of thinking that the US is an upstart nation with no history past or culture, plays alot into this. Some nations seem to feel that since we are a realitivley young nation we need to look to our "elders" in Europe for guidance.

They also seem to feel that we should protect our own interests only when it coincides with the interests of their nation. And then only with their consent.

I'm not lumping the UK into that group as I feel the UK is very strong allie which shares many of our interests. However a certain segement of her population and media can take a pill.

I agree with you there.....................but the amount of times i have heard or had an american come up to me and said " we are the most powerful country in the world or we are better than every one else or other countries need us" ...........................i have never heard any other person say this..........i just think that america are hidden from most of the world...........i suppose its cusyour suck a big country init's self that its like another world and i know that TV over there actually protects americans and the society which i can really understand.

But there are other countries like you said with more history, america have the capability of one day being the most powerful and best country in the world but yet its such a young country with alot to learn but i respect how it is dealing with life as usa has come a very long way in the last 14yrs..............

I hope i have not offended I didn't mean it that way..............I'm just trying to elabrate.

Yet history is just that history. It should be studied and learned from yes, but simply because a Nation is older with more history should the US bow to them and seek their consul?

While the US maybe a young nation it does have the right to determine it's destiney. And I believe the desire to determine it's own destiney is what irks alot of "older" nations.

All I am saying is usa is trying to do what england did 100's of yearsago.........make a place in what ever country they can.................we dominated half the world at one point and were the bloodest and most evil country around yet we ended up caving in and losing what we had due to the basic leaders and uk being the "cocky" I'm the best country act.........................................
America do have the right to stand up and do what they want and i do respect them for having done so and breaking away from what was expected of them.

All I am saying iss history is there for a reason and if it is not taken into heart..........................like the saying goes "shit has hit the fan"

I don't see that the US is trying to become the colonizing force that Great Britian was when "The sun never set on the British Empire." Times have changed and colonies are more of a burden than a benefit.

I don't know what country you percieve us as trying to colonize.

No I understand your saying the US should learn from the UK's mistakes. But I think you are comparing apples and oranges.
