American Army

But you get what I mean.
Volunteer in the fullest length of the spirit is a guy willing to go to Iraq without protest.

I know what you are trying to say, but you are wrong.

We just need to be careful that we don't hijack the thread here.

Well, one more thing:

"Reservist and citizen-soldiers stand ready, in every free nation, to stand to the colors and die in holocaust, the big war. Reservist and citizen-soldiers reamin utterly reluctant to stand and die in anything less... The man who will go where his colors go, without asking, who will fight a phantom foe in the jugle and mountain range, without counting, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britian to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legions are made."- T. R. Fehrenbach

Well,i have one opinion about those militias that were mentioned,i thing that they are being made only couse medias such as news papers and TV are brainwashing americans about possible terrorist attack,i mean its good to be ready but the intensity of this is making US nation paranoic

I don't think you understood the definition of militias as outlined by Section 311. Militia: composition and classes

All male citizens over the age of 18 are part of the unorganized militia regardless of if they agree with it or not. It is recommended that they bear arms, but it is not a requirement. Congress is authorized to arm the unorganized militia with military grade equipment in times of war (see: Civilian Air Patrol of WW2). National guard are simply a better trained and equipped militia that is designed to fight another army on our soil. This is part of our system of checks and balances.

That link you posted has references to extremists, and it is in no way representative of what is the militia was intended to be. Those "radical" individuals are no more prevalent than "radical" tree-hugging terrorists.

In USA there are still KKKers, and some local military groups, why are they not treated as terrorists? Or those guys don't pose danger to the society?

The KKK is national socialist (Nazi) scum. They don’t believe in the right to bear arms for anyone other than themselves. I couldn’t care less what they think as long as they don’t mess with anyone or our rights.

They are treated as terrorist groups, chief, when they commit terrorist acts. The KKK at this time is so fenced in by the FBI, among other governmental organizations, that if they even think about acting on their insane rhetoric they will end up in Club Fed quicker than a hippie can come up with a conspiracy theory.

We have a Bill of Rights here that, among other things, guarantees us as citizens of the United States the freedom of speech, which extremist groups like the Klan, the Black Panthers, and the Earth Liberation Front are free to make use of this freedom so long as they do not infringe upon the rights of other citizens. Once they do cross that line, they become and are treated as terrorists.

Next challenge of my country's integrity......

Now get back on topic.

American soldiers volunteers...
technically yes. But there are those who are in the "ready reserve" who didn't really fulfill their entire time and were placed on the "ready reserve" status.
Which means they live like civilians etc. but they can be called up. Now these guys have been called up and they're acting like they're being drafted. So techncially yes, all volunteers but actually some really don't want to be there.

Don't forget about the citizenry who we called the Minutemen. There is more firepower available in America than any place on this planet. Hunters alone make up a more formidable armed force than most Countries. The World's finest weapons are available to anyone who qualifies to own them and a lot who don't qualify. In Texas alone gun ownership equals about three to every person but I have a feeling there are more that are just not registered. So, theoretically, I guess we have a standing armed force of over 250 million. Grannie's shotgun will kill just as surely as a military weapon.

2. Strength- Communications/Support
3. It will continue to have a leading role in world affairs, such as Taiwan, Korea, Taiwan, etc...
4. I believe all U.S. Soldiers will have the "Land warrior system". The future is bright for the U.S. Army.

I have worked in defense research and development since 1965 and still am. I read, with some interest, the hyperlink in your post. The companies that I have worked for are constantly warning us about discussing anything that might be sensitive to our Country's security. Every day we badge through the doors, we are confronted by the rogue's gallery of people who sold information to other Countries. I was surprised that so many defense magazines are publishing pretty accurate data on weapons systems.

If anyone works in our defense industry or knows or is married to anyone who does, remember that lives depend on information you could have.

I hope this doesn't come across as paranoid because I know that many other Countries represented here are just as careful. I think Revell has models of most of our newest aircraft on the shelf before the public is even aware of their existance.

Hmm, I dont know about the hunters being useful for military purposes....Deer do not shot back.

I mean that a Remington 700 with a 5x scope in the hands of a person who has been free and fortunate enough to have owned and fired such a weapon since they were 9 or 10 years old can put a bullet exactly where it does the most good, be it deer or any other type of animal.

Yes, and like ive said, when the animal is armed and knows its at risk, it will shoot back. Hunters are very skilled sharpshooters, but lack the military training to effectivly fight an enemy using tactics.

As to the information security issue: If I can find it on google, its not top secret anymore...

I would rather err on the side of being too careful than not careful enough. I know the difference between what's on a search engine and what someone might let slip in free exchange.

They have had a lot of shows on the History Channel about the new Land Warrior system. But at the rate we're going with new military hardware turnover it'll be ready in 2030 (being sarcastic). Actually recently on Mail Call they were showing a bunch of new military hardware being tested in Iraq. They were even showing off the new Army digital camo that they're issueing. The thing that gets me is when Land Warrior first came out the system was so big and bulky and it seems like every year we are finding ways to lighten it up and make things smaller. I personally think it's still to big, but it's nice to know that it's being updated every chance we get.

I can see your point on hunters, but where they are not already trained up military-wise, they can be. A large class of superb marksmen are an excellent addition to the military, should their nation need them to fight. On top of that, they are already knowledgable about moving silently in rough terrain and camoflage. These qualities would make them fairly easy to train up, don't you think?

Also, if a scenario plays out where the United States were invaded, the mass of arms that are already in the hands of private citizens almost certainly leads to Partisans who end up giving the invaders one helluva time of it. A deer rifle is a pretty effective weapon in the right hands, especially when nobody knows where the shots are coming from.
