I am a former Marine reservist from Southern California, at one time belonging to the 2nd Bn, 23rd Marines, 4th MarDiv, based at Santa Monica airport.

Old Corps? Damn right! I was in one of the last platoons in boot camp to be issued M-1 Garands. I even had a service number instead of this Social Security crap. This New Breed, I tell ya...
 
Welcome Marslight. My days at Ft. Polk in 1962 are memorable mostly thanks to the M-1. She was heavy but deadly at 500 yards. The only thing I didn't like was the rifle grenade launcher.
