Air Force Grounds 452 Fighter Jets

The Air Force grounded 452 Boeing F-15 fighter jets after a crash probe revealed defects in the aircraft's fuselage. The entire F-15 fleet had been grounded following a Missouri Air National Guard crash Nov. 2 in which a pilot safely ejected.
The Air Force returned the F-15s to flight status Nov. 21. But an Air Force investigation found there were "possible fleetwide airworthiness problems" because of defects in metal rails that hold the fuselage together. The Air Force said Wednesday that 452 of its oldest F-15s, more than 60% of the fleet, will be grounded until each is inspected and possibly repaired.
