Militants attacked troops from the United States-led coalition who were patrolling south of the Afghan capital, killing three of them and an Afghan interpreter. The victims’ nationalities were not released. The convoy was attacked as it passed through Wardak Province. A freelance television cameraman videotaped what he said was the aftermath of the attack about 40 miles from Kabul, the capital. The video showed the burning wreckage of a vehicle and militants with an ammunition belt and what looked like an M-16 rifle. It was not possible to verify independently whether the video was from the same attack.
