KABUL (Reuters) - Afghanistan's Taliban vowed on Friday to take revenge on NATO forces for the killing of 17 civilians, for which a U.S. soldier is due to face charges, saying they had no faith in any court proceeding. The massacre in the southern province of Kandahar as well as the burning of Korans at a NATO base have angered many Afghans and damaged relations at a time when Western forces are drawing down combat troops and the Taliban have suspended peace talks. ...

He IS a political pawn .. however, it is of his own making. As far as a fair trial, he will be tried in America and even though it will be a military trial, the world will be looking over the shoulders of the court-martial panel, which will ensure a fair trial (to most of the world at least). As far as the Afghans, I just hope it doesn't cause the death of more Americans. There have been enough of them killed in that hellhole corner of the world.

It is WAY past time that ALL of our troops were rotated home.

As far as Bale's trial, in all likelihood, his attorney will plead diminished capacity and Bales will draw a life sentence ..... that means that he will probably serve 15-25 years and then be paroled.
