AP - The young Afghan woman got her first inkling of a life beyond her abusive husband when friends mentioned a government ministry dedicated to defending women. Then she saw a TV show about women's rights. Finally, after four years of marriage, she grabbed some car fare and fled.

I read a site showing history of Afghan women and they have been battling for rights for a lonnnnnng time :-( don't know why them religious leaders feel so threatened with a educated woman. I truly hope women rights get better for them and the 'T' should be labelled as dead beat dads and husbands.
