It's a great cartridge. But Bill Alexander of Alexander Arms holds and owns the patent on the 6.5 Grendel and the .50 Beowulf. He will not lease the rights to the cartridge to any of the major ammunition companies. Thus you must buy it from him. If you want to load your own ammo.... though luck. Either you reuse your spent brass (nothing wrong with that) or you buy new ammo from him.
You can't order new unfired brass from Norma or any of the other custom caliber brass companies.
Because of his hold on the cartridge. It's popularity hasn't spread. If the Big Dogs loaded it it would sell off the shelves. Remington, Olin (Winchester), Speer, Federal, Wolf, Sellier & Bellot, Hornady, Black Hills, etc.... large ammunition supply on the open market. More rifles sold in said caliber. More rifles sold and more ammo sold means more royality checks.
But hey... he's stuck up and is an ass.
Even Uncle Sam wanted to load and use that cartridge as a possible replacement but no go on the rights.
