I've recently re-read the following books;

Patrick Bishop's books (3PARA & Ground Truth) is telling the story of the UK 3rd Parachute Regiment. The first book (3PARA) focuses on the regiments first deployment to Afghanistan in 2006.
The second book (Ground Truth) takes us back to Afghanistan with 3Para, on their second tour to Helmand, in 2008.

Absolutely brillint books: Doug Beattie MC, tells us of soldiering from a soldier's perspective. Not another "expert" analysts opinion - but the real story of being a professional soldier.


For anyone having an interest in the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan - these books are, in my oppinion, a MUST-read.
