God Bless America and those that have fought, bleed, and died for her freedoms!

Happy Independence Day to you all.

Every July 4 since 1912, except for the two world wars, large crowds have gathered in the heather-covered hills of Rebild in Jutland, Denmark to celebrate US Independence Day. The site of the celebration is the beautiful Rebild National Park (20 kilometers south of Aalborg), presented to the Danish nation by Danish-Americans in 1912.

The Rebild Festival is an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants, and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between the USA and Denmark.

Over the years, hundreds of thousands of Danish-Americans and others have joined with Danes in this celebration. The Stars and Stripes of USA and the Danish Dannebrog flag are flown side-by-side in a natural amphitheater in the hills of Rebild. Music, entertainment, community singing and speeches by prominent Americans and Danes are expressions of the bonds which unite the USA with Denmark.

Among others, Rebild speakers have included members of the Danish royal family and the former presidents of the United States of America, George Bush, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.

Awesome.... I know we trade troops during the winter months for NATO Cold Weather training. Didn't know you folks did that.

The love for America has almost always been strong in Denmark. Danes love American culture. The only thing we love more is to make fun of your culture. We have in Denmark a proverb which says: The one you chasten, you love!

For those you missed the fireworks.

Thank you Denmark. In 1976 I was married in Coopenhagen (to another US servicemember) and remember the country and people fondly.

Salutations on your great day USA. Stay great - Thank you from an Englishman, from the heart, and may God Bless America!:bravo:
