There was a documentary on TV not long ago about War Plan Red between the US and the UK. Obviously it was never implemented and quietly forgotten about until is was discovered recently.

Most of the "Big" countries probably have contingency plans for invading other Countries, even if the chances of War with them is remote.

This shouldn't come as a shock. I mean, Anglo-American relations didn't really warm up until after WW2. We were on the verge of war just 20 or 30 years prior to this in the mid-1890's during the Venezuela crisis.
