:shoothea: I got 67 in AFOQT, and 108 in GT. I am very interested in getting commission in U.S Military. I talked to my Army recruiter about a waiver, he told me that I must get 110 in GT in order to get commission in army or I can join army as a Specialist (E-4), and later on improve my score and apply for commission. I think it will take forever if I apply for commission after joining army. I also have to wait another 6 months in order to take ASVAB again, because this was my second attempt.
English is not my first language that’s why my English sucks. I feel comfortable working with numbers but because of my fu***** English I am not doing great in ASVAB.
I really want to join Military as a commission officer. This is my dream. I am open for Navy, Army, Coast Guard, and other military field.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

I can only suggest, Ars but if I were you I'd do some serious studying, especially English if you feel that's your weak point. As a senior NCO I can tell you that the last thing soldiers under you need is someone giving orders in the heat of battle that are difficult to understand. At the same time you're taking some English tutoring it might be a good time to study for a better ASVAB/GT score.

When all your ducks are in a row then & only then apply for OCS. You'll want to be the best officer possible. Make it happen with hard work. At this time OCS might be hard to get into. I've heard that it's full until later in the year. Even though having a 09S contract for OCS is the best route to go there is no reason that you can't enlist as a SPC E-4, get some experience, study, then apply to go to OCS. The worst that might happen would be a wait until your reenlistment window opens & then apply for an OCS contract.

Talk this over with a knowledgeable Recruiter & see if he agrees with me. Having 27 years of military experience has shown me that as a rule the best officers have come up through the ranks as former enlisted men. Not always the case but most of the time this is true. I can think of only one glaring exception.
