0200 Intelligence Opportunities

I am a High School Senior who had just DEPed into the Marine Corps. I scored an 85 on the ASVAB and a 114 on the DLAB. I am slotted to go to basic September 19th with an Intel contract. I am curious on the day-to-day process of an 0231 (Intel Specialist). Also, I have the opportunity to attend language training at the Defense language Institute at Monterey, CA. I am curious what opportunities will arise from this training, and what language I should pursue.

Any answers are gratefully appreciated.:salute2:

On a note of language, that comes down to where you want to go.
I have a good buddy of mine that did Russian, graduated top of class for Army Special Forces. I've seen pictures of him over there working with their units and he loves his work. I will say I have no clue fully what he does, but the pictures are nice! :)

It comes to personal preference and where you want to be placed on deployment, also how much you're willing to take on for the language.

I do wish you the best of luck on this. It's a great opportunity.

Well let's cut to the chase.

You are in intel. NO one says what you do. Get used to it.

Languages in the USMC have a high drop out rate. EVERY unit that I have been to has someone that got dropped because they couldn't pick it up fast enough so good luck.

You are in a crucial MOS so there are INFINITE way to screw up what you have volunteered to do. Keep your nose clean. When you graduate from your MOS school and have experience at your first unit you will see how hopeless the question above really is to have an answer. It just ain't happening man.

Sounds like you already signed the papers. Just sit back, and enjoy the ride.
