Some pilots fell in love with those gun pods in the skies over Vietnam. Getting caught in a wagon wheel or fur ball without one against a agile gun fighter like a Mig 17, wasn't a good idea. Back then USAF thought with the build policy of "Higher, Further, Faster". No offense to any one, but, compared to a F 15 Eagle, the F 4 flies like a turkey. But,... She has good engines though, Fast girl....
