Food and water is probably more likely to kill you than any Zombie is (depending on where you are lol). What are your plans for food and water? Have you made any preparations already? How long will that last you? How do you plan to get more?

Closest supply of emergency water is your water heater. Shut off the in valve to make sure nothing gets in it and you have at minimum 30+ gallons of fresh drinking water. If your neighbors bug out...you have theirs as well. Food? cans, freeze dried, MREs, gardens will quickly be depleted because you can't be outside alot tending them.

Again, all depends on where you are and what you do. But yes, for most people the water heater is a great source of water during an emergency. It's not talked about a lot in emergency preparedness so to bring it up is outstanding!

It really seems that no matter how much supplies you can stuff in a reasonably sized house, sustaining a group of four for over three months seems an almost impossibility. Especially in terms of water. A three week's supply of water is an enormous amount of water.
