I saw on the news recently that the US kevlar helmet is about to be replaced with a lighter (6 llb) one that is just as protective if not more so. Sure hope so.

America has 2 different types, the normal "K pot" looks just like all the ones ya'll have shown. The other Special Forces helmet, is a lightly armored Hockey helmet, its light, but has very little protection.

German Imperial Pickelhaube (spiked helmet)
1842 - 1915




German Stahlhelm (steel helmet)
1916 - 1945 (different models were introduced throughout the years, but the basic layout always remained the same)



German Bundeswehr helmet (aka US M1)
1955 - early 90's

American troops also have special helmets for Airbornes...

I don't know what it's called, but here's a picture of someone with it on.

The swedish kevlar helmet, i think it's made in england.

The rubber bands are for attaching bits of grass or pine for camouflage.

In the winter you just turn the cover inside-out and you get a white helmet
