Halifax had as much backbone as Chamberlain. Churchill always seemed to see the bigger picture rather than here and now

Churchill was a man of his time and he had a 'touch' that resonated with the people of England.

Halifax didn't have the same touch and didn't identify with the man-on-the-street ... Churchill did.
