PARIS, Oct 10 (AFP) - A young French woman was detained by police in Paris Monday as part of an investigation into underground groups allegedly recruiting volunteers to fight against US troops in Iraq. The 18-year-old woman, who has not been named, is believed to have been the girlfriend of a man who left to join the insurgency and was killed. Last month six men were arrested in the Paris suburbs as part of the same investigation, and all were released after the maximum four days of questioning allowed by French law. Intelligence services have identified about 20 men who have been recruited in France for the Iraqi insurgency, of whom six are believed to have died in combat or suicide attacks. |

| Immunes | Hmm, I really doubt that they are FRENCH by blood, France has almost 5 million Muslims lving there. Many of them have been suspected members of terror networks and have been involved with other various extremist sects. So there is a high chance they are fanatical Muslims.

| Tirones | An individual or small group of individuals do not make a country or culture. Being aware of these types of operations and proactively trying to stop them is a good thing. Being arrested for four days is enough to put the spotlight on someone. Is she still recruiting? Is she working for the French Government? Did she give information? Is she being watched by the government? How effective of a recruiter can she be now, after 4 days of questioning? |
