The simple reality is that had the British grown a nut sack and actually deported all the illegal immigrants back to Europe where they came from in 1945 there would be no major issues in the region (sure the Arabs would still be killing each other but hey its their dirt who cares). But here is the situation as I see it now: 1) The Palestinians are not going to accept some piecemeal state that can not defend itself and is made up of half a dozen worthless chunks of land. 2) Israel is there to stay (No matter whether you believe it should have ever been created in the first place or not). Now the challenge is really to understand these factors and come up with a solution, my bet is that it is going to involve Israel handing over a lot more land than they are currently offering and it will involve a fairly sizable demilitarised zone that will have to be provided by both parties. In the end it would be a huge undertaking and to be honest I just don't believe either side is prepared to actually do what it takes to reach a fair compromise. If the reason for the formation of the state of Israel was as a result of the holocaust, why wasn't part of Germany given to the Jews as reparation? Why rob some perfectly innocent people of their homeland? If your home was desroyed by your neighbour, that would not give me the right to give you the home of another totally unrelated person just because i am sorry for you. I'm afraid that US and Israeli propaganda has poisoned the minds of otherwise normal people and it is continuing to do so, although there have been signs of some guilt showing in the US more recently with the US asking that Israel stop building further "settlements" on Arab lands. You will also note that Israel effectively told the US to mind their own business. Allies,... Huh! |

Giving them a part of Germany would have put them too close to the folks who had done such a great job of killing them off in the millions. A piece of Canada or Alaska would have done the job just as well. |

Seriously why would Canada or anyone want to give up territory to European refugees that simply refuse to go home, what makes you think the same problem wouldn't exist no matter where you put them? Last edited by MontyB; August 14th, 2009 at 00:37.. | ||

If it were me, I'd think that it was "justice", especially when you see what the attitude was to the Jews by the Germans after the war. It would have been the German people who were uncomfortable, not the Jews. About 40 of "my" relatives did go to the gas chambers/shot/starved/beaten to death, or whatever.
