Not entierly sure on that one. I know that the M-16 was a good gun, but when the troops in VietNam used it, they had a tough time having the gun jamm on them.

That was the original M-16. Even that one was alot less likely to jam if it was kept clean, but the addition of the forward assist in the M-16A1 removed any other tendancy to jam.

That is an added bounus. My dad owns an M-16A1. He says that it has a tendancy to need alot of maitence. Not sure if that is because he shoots with it on almost a daily basis?

The Sterlings we used -- we just called them SMGs ("smigs") -- may (or may not) have been good in their day, but they were fairly well-used by the time I got one around '85. It had the opposite problem from jamming: switching between Safe, Repetition and Auto could make it fire a burst without even touching the trigger.

The main advantages to the SMG versus the C1:

- much lighter
- much shorter (you could actually stick the thing in the side pocket of your combats, if you forced it)
- easier to clean/maintain
- much lighter
- fully auto (the C1 was straight semi-auto)
- much lighter (did I mention that?)

Main advantage of the C1:

- You would more reliably hit and kill what you were shooting at

I have been a big fan of the Glock 9mm hand gun, as it is light and very versatile. I have also been looking at purchasing a Desert Eagle, can anyone tell me if that would be a wise choice?

Well, I would have too say my favorite firearm in the world between six of my firearms...

1) New England Firearms Pander Model 20 Ga.

I can hunt just about any game animal in Florida. Bird, waterfowl, deer, hog, rabbit, or squirrel. Also, it was my first firearm ever.

2) Israeli Mauser 7.62X51 NATO

It's a great battle rifle in a great caliber. Works as a good hunting rifle and also as a good rifle for self defense.

3) Marlin Glenfield Model 20 .22LR

There is not a single small game animal alive that this rifle can't take.

4) Marlin 1895G .45-70 Government

With this rifle, I can hunt anything from Whitetail Deer to the Five Big Dangerous Game of Africa.

5) Glock 23C .40 S&W

Ultamite Self Defense/Combat pistol ever designed.

6) Ruger .22/45 .22LR

Best .22 caliber pistol ever made.
