What Forced Japan to Surrender

The entrance of the Soviet Union and its take over of the Kuril Islands put fear in the Japanese, they believed it was in their best interest to surrender to the U.S. or face the Soviets and the merciless Stalin so they choose to surrender to the U.S. than wait for the Soviets to gain more territory.
