The Australian international is out of contract at Blackburn Rovers and the Ewood Park club will let him leave now, for a fee in the region of £2million.
Liverpool have long been favourites to snap up the fullback, yet it has now emerged that Alan Curbishley is very much interested in bringing the player to Upton Park.
It is believed Curbishley will make his move for Neill before the weekend, as he aims to add to his squad ahead of what is likely to be a relegation battle in the second half of the season.
