Aahh Gator, maybe it would have been different had those nukes have been misplaced by those dirty pinko leftists.

Oh well, the world is a very simple place for those with such unsophisticated views, it's just a pity that it has no bearing on the way that the real world works.

Anyways, this is what I have to say about this on whether or not this was an accident or not.

I know what the police officer said, but that's what police officer say until they have a final report. They don't want to jump to conclusions. Remember, they may have to eat their words later and that's not very good professionally.
If the evidence given in the news report is true, that the liquid was not water and it was an oily strange substance and it ran a good length of the monument, I have a hard time seeing how such a thing could be an accident. If it was in one place then I think it could have been an accident but the way it was splattered makes me believe that either it was in a squeeze bottle and squeezed or it was in an open cap bottle and had the liquid flung at it.
That's my take on this.
If the evidence is true, I think this is about an accident as is a multiple gunshot wound to the head with a revolver is a suicide.

Although this event is indeed very unfortunate, it doesn't take away any of the respect that these people deserve. I respect them no less today than before the incident. It's just an act of immaturity by kids who don't understand s**t.

The problem with this argument is that you are essentially ignoring the professionals ie the police because they are not prepared to give an unsubstantiated answer while at the same time giving an opinion that is equally unsubstantiated.

The key to this is to wait and see what the authorities have to say on the matter as they are the ones with the "facts". For the most part I agree with your line of thinking but on the other hand this is a national monument in the nations capital on the eve of 9/11 and the monument has a high level of security I find it hard to believe that the story would not have been picked up by ANY of the major news outlets hell Fox will run anything even remotely pro-right wing and even they haven't covered it.

MontyB, I think the professionals will come up with a similar conclusion... or if only to ease tensions decide to report that it was inconclusive.
Anyways, that's my reasoning. Lots of people here actually have views different from official report conclusions. So why shouldn't I have that right as well?

This is what I received from my Vietnam war vet friend in email

Quote:
Here's the video made of damage to the wall. Also, the FReeper said that there are multiple deep, long, vertical scratches/gouges on East Wall Panel 15E and that the Nurses Statue and Brothers statue has been defaced or vandalized also. He will post another video soon.

Correction on Vietnam Wall Defacement

Patriots and Comrades All:

After several attempts, I was able to contact SGT Booker of the National Park Service (NPS), to check on the facts about the defacement of the Vietnam Wall last weekend. He explained it was a cleaning accident by a Park Ranger and NOT a defacement as was originally reported by the Vietnam Veterans of American (VVA). The NPS is regarding this as an accident instead of an act of vandalism or terrorism.

Our National Commander Patriot Henry Cook III has the direct phone numbers for SGT Booker of the NPS, and can verify these facts with him directly. A copy of this correction is also being sent the VVA for their follow up and verification. My apology for the error, as sometimes it is not always possible to reach the NPS immediately
From an email a VERY reliable source has posted elsewhere on the net.

You may all stand down and return to DEFCON 3.

In other places, this is called rumour mongering, or panic mongering.

And not necessarily every thing of this sort makes news around the world.... But again I believe this damage is definitely done by an anti-war leftist SINCE they have always wanted to deface it.
So it appears that the Damn Pinko leftist Park Rangers have struck again?
