I looked up this article on Snopes and could NOT find anything ... also, the ONLY confirmation I could locate was a report that was contained on an 'activist' site. Don't really know what it means though.

Well Chief, I'd say that if it hasn't made the national news, it either hasn't got a lot of substance, perhaps it was a prank in poor taste, using some harmless substance like water that just evaporated after the photos were taken.

Whatever, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info available about it, as you might expect if it was a suspected case of vandalism.

I hope that this is the case.

I went to gatheringofeagles.org and they have an article on their website, but that is the only place I have found it.

Honestly though, I never heard of any of the other vandalisms though so not hearing of it doesnt mean that it didnt happen. It seems to take a few days for news like this to get picked up.

Why dont we wait a couple of days to see what happens... drinks on me guys.

We all have the right to say our piece, but the misuse of a memorial such as this to make a personal or political statement is in the very poorest taste and in my opinion worthy of judicial intervention, whether it was harmless or not.

The problem is that all of the sites carrying this story are linking to the same source which at best comes across as a slightly less than unbiased.

Lets look at this somewhat logically:
- There is no police report.
- There is no corroboration from any law enforcement authority.
- The people quoted in the story are using "pen names"
- To date there is now mainstream media coverage (this is a national monument isnt it and other attempts to damage the monument have been reported).

I have a tendency to believe that this is at best a misrepresentation of a simply story in order to push an agenda.

If there is no Police Report as of yet then no Crime took place and this seems to be, at this point in time, a Smoke Screen.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if a person working for the Blogs placed the liquid on the Wall just to take pictures and blame the other side.

Has any of you seen this news on TV? I'm in Austria right now so I wouldn't know but if this happened I'm sure there would have been some mention in the news somewhere. I wished I still lived in Washington DC... then I could have gone over and checked it myself.
