Sounds a lot like something I would have looked into had I been USAF. I'm a Geography major so weather and climate had a lot to do with my education.

I understand that their work is very important (temperatures and wind speeds can probably affect munitions and the spread of chemical/biological/radiological weapons) and that it can be very dangerous jumping in to enemy territory to get that data.

But you have to admit, it looks kind of ridiculous. In essence he blows up a little balloon and releases it to track the wind.
