BAGHDAD, Aug 8, 2006 (AFP) - A US soldier died from combat wounds sustained
in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, the military said Tuesday.

The soldier was wounded on Sunday but the military did not say when he
actually succumbed to his wounds.

The latest fatality brought the US military's death toll in Iraq since the
March 2003 invasion to 2,591, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon
figures.
