BAGHDAD, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- A US soldier was killed in a roadside bomb
blast south of Baghdad on Monday, the US military said on Wednesday.
"A soldier assigned to Task Force Baghdad was killed when an improvised
explosive device hit his vehicle in south of Baghdad on Dec. 19," the
military said in a statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next
of kin, it added.
The death has brought to about 2,160 the number of US military personnel
who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003, according to
media tally.
