Post; US soldier dies in Iraq's Anbar province

BAGHDAD - A US soldier working in Iraq's restive western province of Anbar
under the aegis of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force died on Saturday due
to "non-hostile" action, said the US military.

The latest casualty makes 15 servicemen who have died in Anbar over the last
10 days, a testament to the continued fierceness of the conflict there
between US troops and insurgents, even as the focus is increasingly on the
sectarian conflict in neighboring Baghdad province.

According to an AFP count based on Pentagon figures, 2,587 US servicemen
have died since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.
