BAGHDAD, Nov 13 (AFP) - The US military said Sunday it had detained 250
suspected rebels in the greater Baghdad area during "aggressive" operations
earlier this month.

"During combat operations November 6-11, coalition forces detained more than
250 terror suspects, found seven weapons caches, and discovered 37 IEDs
(improvised explosive devices) before they could be detonated," a statement
said.

"Task Force Baghdad conducted more than 1,030 patrols, carried out 100
cordon-and-searches and raids, and set up more than 400 tactical checkpoints
during aggressive combat operations throughout the capital city," it added.

The ongoing "National Unity" operation aims to stabilize Baghdad ahead of
the December 15 general elections, the military said.
