Post; US invloment in Iraq

I may be stirring up some contoversy but, I have been wondering why we (US Military) are still in Iraq. There have been no WMDs found. There have been discussions lately that have said if we pull out basicly the country itself will implode. I am by no means an expert on the subject but I agree that we need to start bringing ALL of OUR troops home safe.

Bottom line question WHY ARE WE STILL IN IRAQ?

Because, you know, that was so true with the Communists.

The country's horribly imbalanced. If the US leaves there are a number of things that may happen, the first of which is Iran moving in and taking over, along with the collapse of the current government. This makes Saudi Arabia nervous, because the Saudis are Western Collaborators, making them infidels to Iran...

It's a really big mess. We removed the Jenga block that held the Middle east together, and now our military is the only thing keeping the whole thing from falling apart.

I used to think that but now I think its about the ego of certain politicians. The country is such a mess that our leaders are just running down the clock so that they can pass this clusterf*** (and the blame) to whoever wins in November.

Yesterday 3 US soldiers were killed and 31 wounded in a rocket attack inside the Green Zone -thats supposed to be the safe area. The fact the Patreaus is now arguing for the stoppage of the troop withdrawals is clearly an indicator of the worsening situation there.

I get this question a lot. I am from NYC. I fly a French flag because I work for the Paris Office of a International company.

Agreed.

Unless things change, and I mean a lot, Iraq is doomed to fall, whenever the US gets tired and goes home.

If the US pulls out... now that is going to be very interesting.

I guess that I'm just fed up with the whole thing. I am getting sick and tired of turning on the news just about every day and hearing that ANOTHER one of OUR troops has been killed or seriously wounded in Iraq.

Here is another question to stir things up a bit. Why do we (The U.S.) have to run all over the world being the worlds "police force"?

One more thing. This is for all of OUR troops over there that may be able to stop in here, STAY SAFE, COME HOME TO THE ONES THAT LOVE YOU. I'm not sure where I stand on the war itself, BUT I do support ALL of OUR troops that are just following thier orders.

If anything Boomer... it's not about being world police, it's about cleaning up the mess we started.
We are responsible, one way or another, with what is happening in Iraq today. We can't just say "we messed up, screw the Iraqis" and leave.

When you become the Worlds super power and sign countless agreements with other countries then you will get sucked into these conflicts over the years. Now Iraq had been threat to a number of bordering countries and action had to be taken to get rid of that threat, or do you think that nothing should be done until that country is so strong that becomes a major challenge. What would have happened if some one had stood up to Hitler when he first started to through his weight around, would we have had the second WW, well I for one don't think so.
Now it is all very good you sitting at home saying that you are fed up hearing about the conflict and your countrymen getting killed and wounded, well I don't think that they think it is much fun, but unlike you they feel they have a duty to support their country rather than just whine on about it. Lets face it it is not only Americans that are getting killed out there.
