And now what will happen is the CIA will become impotent and several "private" companies will spring up to fill in the void. This is always the case.

Another case of US shooting itself in the foot? Or is it a determination to shoot the messenger?

If this happens, it will be purely as a result of their own stupidity. Over the years the CIA have been involved in some monumental stuffups/coverups, and generally acting as if they are a law unto themselves.

Every time the CIA gets something wrong, something like this happens.
Now if you conduct operations abroad, what are the chances that you will get everything 100% right?
These guys made the mistake of making everything too easily traceable back to them. Then again, it's not hard because the money had to come from somewhere.
