Unknown Medal info


Hi

I need help identifying a medal it is what appears to be a shovel and maybe a pick or a anchor there is what appears to be a rope or chain wrapped round the stick part of the shovel on the shovel there appears to be lumps or something at the end it also has South Africa stamped on the left hand side of the shovel it is gold coloured

Any information would be appreciated I do Family History and this item was found in my Mothers belongings after she had passed away

Yeah a photo would help, South African Military Decorations generally were British in type.

the only medal i know of that depicts a shovel is a German medal from the 1940's sorry i cant be of more help to you, good luck
