I disagree with the way you put it but let me tell you if US left Germany immediately after WW II, they will also leave middle east and especially Iraq immediately after their ultimate victory in Iraq.

That is not bad though, it helps stabilize the region and calm down idiot governments like Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia and speed up the reform process in the mideast.

I just found out now we had a misunderstanding.

I do not agree to pull back troops now, my belief is that Bush is pushing the consititution agenda too hard that limits the time for Iraqis to work out a consititution that can be accpeted in referendum so a valid and widely supported government can be established as soon as possible to fight insurgency more effectively and start rebuilding.

Yes Americans have an influence to an extent. As advisors. No one said that the Iraqi people have to put in what we ask them to put in. I agree with phoenix_aim54. He said it best in regards to the constitution.
