U.S. soldier killed by suicide car bomb in Iraq's capital info
Monday at a checkpoint outside the capital's highly fortified Green Zone, where Iraq's parliament and the U.S. Embassy are located, the military said.
An Iraqi army soldier, an interpreter and an Iraqi civilian also were wounded in the attack, the military said.
The name of the U.S. soldier was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The death brought to 1,954 the number of U.S. service members who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
