BAGHDAD, Iraq - A U.S. Marine was killed Friday in Anbar province, and an
American soldier was killed Thursday evening by a roadside bomb northwest of
Baghdad, the American military reported Friday.

The marine, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 7, died as a result of enemy
action, military officials said in a statement.

The soldier, who was with Multi-National Division-Baghdad, was performing a
dismounted patrol when the explosion occurred, officials said in a separate
statement.

Authorities are not releasing the names of the deceased while they contact
their next of kin.
