Reuters - The U.S. Justice Department said on Wednesday it had launched a criminal investigation into the CIA's destruction of videotapes showing the harsh interrogation of terrorism suspects.

I still don't understand what has taken so long ... most experts have stated that there WERE records etc that had ALREADY been destroyed (CIA amongst others who have been mentioned in conjunction with rumors and statements from 'unofficial' sources). These tapes are just another in a series of accusations having to do with destruction of records. The CIA is NOT the only group under investigation.
