Was watching U-571 last night, and I know it a bit of a stupid question bt what weapons were kept on the deck of a sumerine? And how did they resist against water?

I think they had an 88mm, but i dont know for sure.

Yeah it was a small artillery piece really. Also another thing they had was this gyroplane (or whatever you call it).
Basically the gun on the deck was the preferred weapon.

Adonized parts I'd assume. And since it'd be a breach loader, I don't think you'd have problems with water in the barrel.

During the "Happy Times" or however you translate it, the 88mm sunk much more than any other U-boat weapon. Interesting because the U-boat had to be on the surface to use it.
