9/11 happened to all of us, when those planes hit we were ALL americans

the attack, and the events following it had a global effect


i think as long as we are sensitive and thoughful with our comments there is no reason why non-americans cant comment on it, especially when it relates to the US elections that will obviously have a huge global impact.

one issue, one crisis does not mean that you would make a good president, from the (admittedly few) chat sessions/debates i saw with guliani, every answer he gave tried to link back to his actions during 9/11....no matter how tenuous the connection


he was trying to ride the coat tails of a despicable tragedy all the way to the white house, and IMHO i found it reprehensible.

his campaign ads really brought it home for me.

I wanted McCain to run in 2004, of course I am going to support him in 2008. Most people attack him for not voting down party lines, for being too liberal for the conservatives of the GOP but too conservative for the liberals of the DNC. The guy makes his decision based on what he thinks is right, not on what his party's platform says he should be. People whine about how polarizing politics are today and complain that all we ever get to choose from are Socialists on the left and Anarchists on the right. Well now we have a legitimate moderate in the lead and I won't be sorry to see him win. In 2000 and 2004 the task wasn't to choose the better candidate, it was to pick your poison. Possibly more so in 2000 than 2004, if that's possible.

I kind of hope Clinton does get the Dems nomination, she might have a larger number of supporters than Obama right now, but there are a hell of a lot more people out there shouting "Anybody but Hillary!" than there are shouting "Anybody but Obama/McCain/Huckabee/Romney!" combined but the people shouting "God look after us if Ron Paul wins!" trump all of those groups. Even Bush thinks Paul is some right-wing nut job, it might be a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but just imagine that visual for a second.

Plus any candidate that earns the scorn of Ann Coulter is going to move up a notch in my book. To throw fuel on the fire, I work at Wal-Mart and I just can't see myself voting for someone who used to be on Wal-Mart's board of directors or whatever Hillary's position was because I know how stupid many of our policies are.

Anybody else think that Romney and Guiliani pretty much destroyed each other in the early rounds of the debates? I watched those early ones, Guiliani and Romney basically ignored everyone else on that stage and starting throwing mud laced with arsenic at one another. "You ran a sanctuary city." "You had illegals cleaning your house." "You made the NYPD walk your mistress' dogs." "You just flip-flopped on ever moral issue six months ago." And then suddenly McCain and Huckabee were 1 and 2 in the GOP with Thompson polling in third wile Romney and Guiliani were asking themselves "Where did I go wrong?"

As for (no offense meant with this word) foreigners weighing in on our elections I have this to say: We pretty much screwed every democracy established between 1950 and 1990 so we probably shouldn't complain about voicing opinions when we may or may not have had non-US friendly candidates killed. Keep it civil and I won't care too much. If you support Ron Paul and I will probably assume you are a Jihadist and only want Paul to win because you know that in a world where America returns to an isolationist policy there are no outside forces to stop you from establishing your little "We hate everyone else" Muslim Empire. Please note I am saying Jihadists think this way, not all Muslims, not by a long shot.

I have to admit that whenever I see these fashionable references to 9/11 my dander rises. Whenever it is mentioned we get 'O not that again, playing the 9/11 card.'

Forget and forgive; yea right - you can do that when it happens to YOU. When it happens to someone else - keep your nose out. It happened to America, and it hurts. There are some here whose countries are completely unscarred by the develish atrocities we have been facing - they should not talk as though these things are nothing, to be discounted, or are now the figments of reactionary imagination. I have to say that if I were American accused of playing the game too hard, I certainly would hold up the two finger Agincourt archers' salute and remind all and sundry of 9/11.

To this day here in England we celebrate the foiling of the centuries old plot to blow up Parliament, and the fate of plotter Guy Fawkes. Until recently huge bonfires were lit all over the country with Guy on top.
