I don't think that we are ever going to nuke each other. we have officially made a statement that we will not be the first one to use nuke but if someone else does nuke us we are not going to hesitate to use our nuke on them.

yes, we have also started bus service from Pak to India and India to Pak, the situation rightnow is very calm and there is no threat to any one of us, and there is this talks going on between India and pakistan. Pakistan is asking India to build an oil pipline from Iran so that it can pass through Pakistan and than India, our trade with pak is also increased and is increasing.

thats good to hear, but I see that both also want to maintain and improve their military force. But what about Kashmir?

I think its gonna stay the same, the pakistan side kashmir will stay in pakistan and indian side kashmir will stay in India, i don't think there is any other solution for that.

By "Armies" did you mean Armies+Air Forces+Navies+whatever else (Marines, Coast Guard, Carabinieri, Air Defense whatever)?

1. USA: Nuclear. Has a military budget just below 50% of that of the entire world. Has global power projection capability
2. China: Nuclear. The Most manpower & has some seemingly decent hi-tech weaponry: http://sinodefence.com/ & http://www.china-defense.com/
3. Russia: Nuclear. It's manpower is below that of the USA and China, but has got a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons and delivery systems
4. Israel: Nuclear. It's equipment is extremely hi-tech and includes nuclear weapons. Also, it's troops are very well trained
5. UK: Nuclear. Training and equipment at a similar level to USA, but no ICMB (afaik), no global power projection.
6. France: Nuclear. Similar, possibly slightly less advanced equipment and training
7. India: Nuclear. Large manpower, equipment slightly below NATO standard?
8. Pakistan: Nuclear. Equipment slightly below NATO standard?
9. North Korea (if they have nuclear weapons): Nuclear. Equipment below NATO standard.
10.Germany (if North Korea has nuclear weapons. Otherwise 9.) Large armed forces is on par with NATO standard
11.Japan maybe? Again, if NK lacks nukular weapons, Japan is 10th. Smaller armed forces than Germany, on par with NATO.

Do not go through the categories and then apply countries to each and every one of them - INSTEAD - give out the complete picture , the top ten armies of the world list , based on these categories.

The top ten armies list refers to complete armies, all the divisions, including nuclear power and everything else that is on the category list in the first post,list is ranked based on those categories. The list does not refer to a specific area\division.

Food for thought: Some countries have stronger armies than others, while their navies or air forces are weaker.

Italy for instance probably has a weaker army than Germany, while it's naval power projection may be superior. Italy has 1 VTOL carrier and another one in planning. This is probably because during the cold war, Germany was supposed to interdict enemy naval movement movement in the baltic and clear it and the northern sea from mines. I think the Italian Navy's AO might have been the entire mediterranean.

Ok, please keep in mind that I am very, very tired and should probably wait till tomorrow to do this.

1.) America - Good balace of Air, Sea and Land power, ability to take the fight to the enemy anywhere in the world that is second to none.
2.) Russia - Come on, 40,000 + tanks, they could probably "blitz" al the way to the Rhine before an joint US-EU (China?) counter-attack could stop them.
3.) China - I doubt they can put 500,000,000 men in uniform as my history teacher claims, but they do have a lot of people and I bet they have a chip on their shoulder after being kicked around by the rest of the world for centuries.
4.) UK - Right up there with America, Israel in technology, second best ability to take the fight to the enemy. Two words, Royal Marines.
5.) Germany - I think they have proven that regardless of the odds they can fight like hell, don't underestimate them. The Leopard is arguably the best tank in the world.
6.) France - I really don't know why, I think France always gets an edge because of their small nuclear stock pile, al though I usually ignore nukes because that just levels the playing field. By that I mean everyone loses.
7.) India - Large population, working of being able to self sustain their own militaty technology deveolpement, experience.
8.) Israel - Technologically at the fore-front, lots of experience, when they fight they know that if they lose their is no tomorrow, makes them very dangerous enemies.
9,) Pakistan - If they fought India to a stand still I put India at 7 Pakistan definetly deserves to be here.
10.) Brazil - Bit of a shock, I know, but I think they have a lot of potential, they do not have any competitors on their continent, large population, pleniful resources, developing advanced technology, they have more potential really than any other nation.

Honorable mentions: Japan, South Korea, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Italy. (I left North Korea off because A.) The biggest reason for not invading is that they may have Nukes. B.) The second biggest reason is China, C.) they have no reserves, the people are starving because the military takes everything. That will not work for long.

Israel 8? and under India, Israel should at least be in the top 5.
