1. By definition, a machine gun is a weapon that automatically fires rounds of rifle calibre or bigger. Too lazy to do pics, but examples with be the M249 SAW, M240B, M60
2. Browning automatic rifle, more commonly known as the BAR, was used in WWI and saw heavy service in WW II. It had a 20 round detachable magazine, and fired the common .30-06 calibre round.

3. Standard issue rifle for US troops in WW II was the M1 Garand.

EDIT: I love being a history major with a military history concentration
