Post; Swords, crossbows and spears

Does the US military, or any other military teach the use of any of those weapons anymore if even for an obscure reason?

Battle?

Recreation?

Certainly knives....right....?

The use of knives most definetely is taught, The SEALs use crossbows, and fencing (swords) is taught in the academies and swords in ceremonial use are taught to drill teams but not as a weapon in battle by the US at least.

Wasn't there a case of one of the Queen's Life Guards beating down some moron with a ceremonial sword?

A friend of mine was shot under the lower left rib by a bolt from a crossbow while serving in VietNam. The medical people told him that the bolt was from a US crossbow being used by Special Forces. They often fell into the hands of the bad guys and, like a lot of our other weaponry, used against us.

Special forces are all taught how to use melee weapons really extensively. Some special forces are taught how to use kukris, and tomahawks.

As for spears, no.....

Crossbows, no the only purpose of that would be for silence and we have silencers and sub sonic ammunition.

crossbow is damn nice, its a sniper's best friend when hes surrounded and in a very dangerou ssituatiion when he does not want to give away his position

although longbow with scope is more effective
