Maybe. But from my understanding "martyrs" in Iran are different from Al Qaeda ones. In Iranian news, when they want to say that a soldier has fallen, they'll say he "was martyred" (I read an article about clashes between Iranian border troops and smugglers or armed militiamen from Iraq).

The Iran-Iraq war showed that Iran did have many people willing to go on "suicide" attacks, i.e. attacks that didn't involve suicide bombing but did usually end in the death of the combatant.
