KANDAHAR — A bomber blew himself up next to a police patrol yesterday in southwestern Afghanistan, also killing four other persons, including two policemen, an official said.
The bomber attacked the patrol in Khash Rod District in Nimroz province, wounding three officers and four civilians, said provincial Gov. Ghulam Dastagir.
Militants have carried out more than 130 suicide attacks this year — a record. More than 6,200 people have died in insurgency-related violence in 2007, also a record, according to an Associated Press tally of figures from Afghan and Western officials.
