No, if you ask for a sidearm you will be given a 9mm Beretta M9 semiautomatic pistol. Don't bring your own weapon I hear courts-martial aren't fun.

I can't vouch for the overall quality compared to other makes, but (call me crazy) I've always found that a Desert Eagle 44 fits my hand beautifully and makes me very happy. Since I have 0% chance of being enlisted anytime soon, I guess I can carry whatever I want as long as I'm liscenced, etc.
